Contest Yachts of Holland announces new Open Sport versions of highly acclaimed Contest 52MC performance motor yacht.
Aimed straight at the superyacht tender/chase boat market as well as high end, high speed, open cockpit luxury powerboater, the Contest 52MC Open Sport brings to the sports market sector for the first time the very best of Dutch semi-custom building. This introduces a complete new set of impressive standards, improving on comfort both underway and at rest, on safe working and movement around deck, on the level of personalisation, and the absolute thrill and pleasure in ownership. The Contest 52MC Open Sport will impress.
Available in three versions: Open Sport with long-sided wraparound screen; Open Sport Classic with Sixties’ reminiscent short-sided screen; and Open Sport T-Top with composite fibre, opening roof shade; all are based on Contest’s exceptional all-weather performance hull with the security feature of deep bulwarks and walkaround decks. Twin 550hp 6 cylinder Cummins engines will deliver well-mannered speed and, with the proven and much admired, clever hybrid hull design, very comfortable cruising both on and off the plane. And with the option of Seakeeper zero-speed stabiliser, she’s as steady as a rock both at speed and rest, happily taking the rock’n’roll out of anchoring for lunch and over-nighting.
Sharing the same very high standards of fine seagoing design and customised craftsmanship as in Contest’s renowned bluewater performance sailing yachts, the plan of the Contest 52MC Open Sport includes an enormous cockpit with extensive, exquisitely upholstered seating around twin tables for dining that convert to large lounger, and a side galley. There is high capacity refrigeration at both the galley and also to hand right by the big aft sunpad.
Underway, the walk forward to the sunpad in the bow is made both easy and safe by the deep bulwark and handrail protected sidedecks, and with the pop-up cleats in the bulwark tops, rope-work is all managed at a convenient height with no stooping. Anchor work in the bow is similarly eased with a neatly engineered, concealed automated system. Docking itself is simplified also with joystick control delivering point-and-go parking.
Below deck the accommodation can be planned according to personal taste in not just materials and finishing but in cabin configuration with a multiple choice between three cabins and two heads or two cabins, two heads and lower deck galley. The level of detailing and technical installation far exceeds the sector standards and Contest’s extensive experience in vacuum infused, sandwich, composite construction and long alliance with acoustic specialist Van Capellen, delivers a very quiet running boat, freed of noise and vibration.
Aft on deck, a side access point between sunpad, cockpit and optional transom platform refreshingly means no need to clamber over cushions when getting on or off the boat. That platform also rises and falls to serve as over- or sub-sea bathing platform and the transom opens to reveal a large garage with capacity for toys and tender. An automated gangway also extends at the press of a button. The sunpad area above with split base and hinged sides also opens fully wide for completely clear vertical access, an feature attractive not only in general use but particularly for gear stowage when employed as chase boat or tender to parent racing or superyacht.
The Contest 52MC Open Sport – opening minds and opportunity.
