Sevenstar Contest Cup great success

11th edition of the Sevenstar Contest Cup great success

From 30 May to 1 June, there was a real invasion of Contests in the harbour of Medemblik, the Oosterhaven . Contest owners from different corners of the world took part in the 11th edition of the Sevenstar Contest Cup 2014. Upon arrival in the harbour on Friday the Dutch, German and English flags were flying along the quay. The event was made possible thanks to the sponsorship of Sevenstar Yacht Transport and Kuiper insurance.

Anniversary
Again for the 11th time organized by Contest Yachts this weekend is a joyful occasion for Contest owners to compare notes and enjoy some light hearted boat for boat racing . The event this year attracted 28 participants with vessels between 29 and 57 feet. "This was a very successful Contest Cup," says Arjen Conijn, Director of Contest Yachts. "It was a perfect combination of sailing, get together and enjoying a stylish dinner with 136 participants at the quay in front of all the yachts. The Contest Cup has truly become an annual international meeting point for Contest enthusiasts who like to meet each other.”

Competition on the coast of Medemblik
Contest owners competed for the Cup and other sporty and attractive prizes. "As in previous years the fleet was divided into two classes. For Contest yachts with a length up to 40 feet, the race committee on Saturday and Sunday set a shorter course than the longer vessels. For the less competitive spirits there is also a cruise in company which is always popular,” says Arjen Conijn.

Results
The regatta and the cruise both took place on Saturday and Sunday in perfect sailing conditions. On Saturday and Sunday, the weather was sunny with a light breeze from the northwest. Sunday was full sun with moderate wind from the northwest. On Sunday afternoon everyone returned to port for the closing prizegiving ceremony and eat the famous “ballen” from Jack at Cafe Brakeboer.
