The San Blas islands, flat, rising just above sea level, and covered with palm trees, seem to have originated right out of a comic book. The inhabitants, the Kuna Indians, are the one but smallest people in the world. They have managed to retain their tribal identity and contentedly lead a moral balanced life, free from the complexities of modern, highly-organized societies.
Once the coconuts were their currency. Still every coconut is owned by someone and should not be touched. After anchoring you will soon be approaches by Kuna women that sell their hand made molas, colourful applique, representing all sort of shapes from the underwater world.
